Complete the Virginia Reckless & Aggressive Driver Education Program (RADEP) through an instructor-led classroom pathway consisting of an 8-Hour Virginia Driver Improvement Course followed by the additional 4-Hour RADEP behavioral education component.
The complete classroom RADEP program totals 12 hours. Students first complete the 8-hour Virginia Driver Improvement portion and then complete the additional 4-hour Reckless & Aggressive Driver Education portion.
Important: Part 1 must be completed before Part 2 through our classroom program. The two parts require separate registrations.
RADEP combines foundational defensive-driving education with additional instruction focused specifically on reckless and aggressive driving behavior.
Part 1 establishes the defensive-driving foundation of the classroom RADEP program.
Typical classroom time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Part 2 focuses on the behavioral factors that can cause otherwise capable drivers to make unsafe decisions.

The 12-hour classroom RADEP requirement establishes the amount of instructional time. It does not, by itself, explain the curriculum, behavioral methodology or instructional experience contained within those hours.

The 8-hour Driver Improvement portion is built on American Automobile Association (AAA) Driver Improvement curriculum experience. The 4-hour behavioral portion uses the National Safety Council Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving methodology to address attitudes, choices, stress, anger, emotional control, judgment, risk and the decision-making patterns associated with reckless and aggressive driving.

Students attend our classroom programs from communities throughout Southside and the greater Hampton Roads region.
If you need the complete classroom program, register for Part 1 and Part 2 separately. Do not select both classes on a single registration.

Register for RADEP Part 2RADEP and Virginia DMV Driver Improvement are related in the classroom 8+4 pathway, but they are not identical programs. DMV point treatment applies to the 8-hour Driver Improvement clinic according to the driver's attendance reason and DMV rules.
A voluntary 8-hour Driver Improvement Clinic may qualify for Virginia DMV safe-driving points when DMV eligibility rules are satisfied.
When clinic attendance is court-required, the court determines whether safe-driving points are awarded and the required court documentation must be provided.
The additional 4-hour RADEP Part 2 component does not create a separate DMV safe-driving-point award.
